High Knob consists of 150 camping sites all with water and electric and most with tielines included, both permanent campers and tourists camping are spread over our 50 acres that is nestled
inside the Shawnee National Forest.
Opened in 1961, by the Flanders family, they owned and operated the campground until 2008, the Flanders family is still very much a part of the day to day runnings of High Knob Campground, which is the oldest trail camp in the entire forest. JoJo and Dan Moomey, the current owners of High Knob, want to welcome all nature lovers and trail riders to come and enjoy all that "The Shawnee" has to offer. High Knob is full of history, from their General Store being used as a tavern in the 1930's to one of their most famous guests, George Harrison of the Beatles in the early 70's. The campground is located inside the forest and within a 3 minutes ride from the center of camp you are in 100ft tall rock bluffs. At High Knob you have the best of trail riding, hiking and hunting.
